Explore San Pedro's Sunken City
The Sunken City of broken concrete slabs was once the foundation of an exclusive oceanside neighborhood in San Pedro, California. Colorful graffiti now paints the seaside remnants, and palm trees grow from the crevices in between. The region sits on top of tall cliffs, where jagged rocks jut out from the crashing waves below. In this post, I’ll give you the info you need to visit and show you the amazing spectacle of this dilapidated wonderland.
Hike Mosaic Canyon
Badwater Basin in Death Valley National Park is 282 feet below sea level, and is made up of over 200 miles of salt flats that look like snow. This site was once a lake, but as it’s dried up sediment and salt have accumulated here over time because the lake has no outlet.
Hike to a World War II-era Nazi compound
Down the canyon below Brentwood lies the ruins of once was grand plans for a self-sustaining farm, Murphy Ranch. Now all that’s left are graffitied stairs, dilapidated buildings and a water tower. It makes for a pretty interesting 3-4 mile hike.
